What if my child has an urgent medical need and the PCP's office is closed?
Call the Doctor or clinic. An answering system may handle your call and someone will advise you on what to do next.
You can also call the 24-Hour Nurse Help Line for CHIP 1-888-497-8989 and for STAR 1-855-782-4214. Tell them your child's symptoms. The nurse will advise you about what to do.
You can also visit an afterhours facility or urgent care center. You do not need to make an appointment for this. These providers do not have to be your PCP's.
